The Blessing of the Fleet, a historical ceremony dating back to the city's earliest days of Spanish colonial occupation, takes place each year on Palm Sunday, beginning at 12:00 p.m. The 2024 date is Sunday, March 24, 2024, and all vessels — commercial and pleasure — are invited to receive a blessing from the Bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine.

The tradition has roots in the Spanish Colonial days when seafaring vessels were blessed, so they would have a safe journey. The tradition continues in 2024 and all watercraft from trawlers to yachts are welcome. Each vessel is encouraged to decorate with flags and bunting as well.

The ceremony begins at noon on Sunday, March 24, 2024, with a procession from the Cathedral Basilica along the Plaza de la Constitución to the St. Augustine Municipal Marina. The traditional blessing takes place at the St. Augustine Municipal Marina. The event is open to the public and can be viewed from the docks, from the Bridge of Lions, and along the bayfront.
