Cap’s on the Water is a throwback to the Old Florida, when you can take a boat to dinner, tie up at a dock and have some fresh oysters. Cap’s is just a short boat ride or drive; north on A1A from St. Augustine, Florida – the view alone is worth the drive! This waterfront restaurant is tucked away on the Intercostal Waterway down a small residential street. Just look for a big grey Castle and turn left – no joking!
Cap’s offers waterfront dining out on their deck, or at the oyster bar. Inside Cap’s you will find an intimate settling, with large booths and large pained glass windows. This inside setting is great for a romantic night out or special celebration dinner. The sunsets at this restaurant are possible the best in the city. Enjoy a Stilton salad, tapas platter, crab cakes, sea bass, filet mignon, fried shrimp or other fresh local seafood which are all of Cap’s specialties. Cap’s has a full liquor and wine list, awarded with Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence for 2006 and 2007.
At the oyster Bar you will find a more relaxed setting, where shorts and flip flops are almost expected. Sit at the bar and try some of Cap’s amazing gumbo or some of their raw, steamed or baked oysters. The Dungeness crab and local Mayport shrimp also great menu choices.
