The Saint Augustine Amphitheatre is St. John’s County’s premier concert and event venue. Live outdoor music & cultural events are held almost every weekend. World-class entertainers such as Kings of Leon, Aretha Franklin, Zac Brown Band, Alan Jackson and Alice in Chains have performed here, along with many other performance artists.
The St. Augustine Amphitheatre was built in 1965, commemorating St. Augustine’s 400th anniversary. It is now run by the St. John’s County Park and Recreation Department, acquired in 2002. Recently the amphitheatre has undergone an 8.7 million dollar renovation, adding a canopy over the main stage and seating areas. So don’t worry about the rain, you’re covered! The Amphitheatre seats a total of 3,402 people. There are 91 Handicapped seats, 2,427 seats under the canopy and an additional 975 seats in the grandstands that are not covered.
There is very limited on-site parking and parking in the surrounding neighborhoods is prohibited. It is suggested that concertgoers arrive at least one hour early to events and concerts to get close parking. Two satellite parking areas are available; behind RB Hunt Elementary School, just one mile north on A1A and at the Elks Lodge, less than a mile south on A1A. Shuttles are available for events at the Amphitheatre and start an hour and a half prior to the shows.
Each weekend the amphitheater hosts a Farmer’s Market where local vegetables, fruits, arts and local crafts are offered by vendors. Locally grown vegetables, organic food, fruits, artisan breads, pastries, flowers and plants, herbs, roasted peanuts, bonsai, and even the famous datil sauces the area is known for can be found every weekend! The farmer’s market is open rain or shine, at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Tickets for most events are sold online with Ticketmaster, however other retailers may sell tickets depending on the performer and show’s promoter. Tickets can also be purchased from the St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office. The box office is open Monday through Friday, 10:00am-6:00pm and Saturday 9:00am - 1:00pm. Accepted methods of payment include cash, local check, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.
