The Ximenez-Fatio House Museum is located on Aviles Street in historical downtown St. Augustine. The site consists of a circa 1798 coquina detached kitchen building, a reconstructed circa 1802 wash house, main house and a new Visitor Center with interactive exhibits, also a Museum store. The Ximenez-Fatio House Museum remains one of the best preserved colonial structures still left in St. Augustine.

In 1939 the National Society of The Colonial Dames of America acquired the house to use as a state museum house. They then joined with the National Park Service, State of Florida, Carnegie Foundation and other groups to restore and preserve the site and this group still owns the historic home. The colonial house is open for tours and is impeccably restored to give guests the best feel for colonial living in a boarding house at the time. Items such as a dry sink, unique fans called punkahs, and an old-fashioned feet warmer are all on display.

Inside the museum you will see exhibits mainly focusing on the property’s role as a boarding house. This was the only acceptable occupation for a woman in the 19th century. The house and museum are excellent examples of territorial life in St. Augustine and it’s early statehood. Admission to the Ximenez-Fatio House Museum is $7.00 for adults, family admission is $15.00, and student, senior, and military ID are $5.00, and tour groups of 10 or more are $4/50 per person. Visiting this wonderfully preserved colonial house is like taking a step back in time!

The Ximenex-Fatio House Museum also makes for a lovely wedding venue! Located in historic downtown St. Augustine you will be near all the great restaurants and attractions, call today for more information.
